Small business owner and beekeeper Democrat Michael Eggman kicked off his 2016 campaign for Congress on Saturday in Turlock, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said. The Central Valley farmer is taking a second shot in California’s competitive 10th Congressional District against Republican incumbent Jeff Denham; he lost to Denham in 2014, 56-43 percent.

The backstory: Eggman grew up on the family farm in Turlock, today farms the same land, and “operating an almond orchard and managing thousands of beehives that produce honey for families all across the state.” Main mode of transport in the Central Valley: “his pickup truck to follow the harvest.”
